Begin your day at the historic Zenko-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most important pilgrimage sites. Stroll through the temple grounds and lively approach lined with shops, where tradition and atmosphere blend seamlessly.

After a relaxing lunch, head to the world-famous Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. Here you’ll encounter wild Japanese macaques in their natural habitat, often seen soaking in hot springs during the winter months. This compact yet fulfilling day trip brings together culture, history, and wildlife for an unforgettable Nagano experience.

Itinerary

  • 10:00 AM | Starbucks (Nagano Station, Zenkoji Entrance)

    Meet your guide outside the Starbucks at Nagano Station (Zenkoji Entrance).

  • 10:10 AM | Zenkoji Temple

    Explore one of Japan’s most historic temples and its atmospheric approach.

    We will start heading to our next destination at 11:10 AM.

  • 12:30 PM | Lunch

    Enjoy a locally prepared meal before hiking to the snow monkeys.

  • 1:30 PM | Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park

    Watch wild monkeys relax in hot springs in a unique natural setting.

    It takes approximately 35 minutes to walk from the park entrance to the snow monkey area.

  • 4:50 PM | Nagano Station Drop-Off

    Return to Nagano with lasting memories of culture, nature, and wildlife.

  • Your tour begins and ends at Nagano Station.

Cancellation Policy

The cancellation fee is as follows:

  • 20 days prior or more: no charge
  • 19-8 days prior: 20% of the total tour cost
  • 7-2 days prior: 30% of the total tour cost
  • 1 day prior: 40% of the total tour cost
  • The day of the tour before the tour start time: 50% of the total tour cost
  • After the tour start time / no-show: 100% of the total tour cost

Inclement Weather

  • No cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations due to inclement weather.

  • Tour routes will be adjusted as needed.
  • We recommend purchasing travel insurance for added peace of mind. Minimum coverage is included.
  • Please wear comfortable walking attire, as you will be walking for extended periods of time.
  • In rare cases, if we cannot secure a guide, the tour may be canceled with a full refund. You will be notified at least one day in advance.
  • Participants are responsible for any damage to their personal belongings during the tour or any additional activities.
  • We cannot be held responsible for any accidents or issues that may arise during the tour.
